Mosaic of Memories: The Naples Pier Project
Restoring the community and celebrating the strength and resilience of Naples.

About the Project

We are proud and excited to announce the launch of a groundbreaking campaign to benefit The City of Naples and local First Responders, to create an iconic piece of art based on the best memories and most joyful moments of everyone in Naples, Florida.

On behalf of our community, we created this project wanting to bring us all together, even for just a moment, to our happiest times, favorite occasions, celebrations, sweet and gentle moments with family and friends.

Our mission is to capture your memories, your photos, your positive energy, to create something brilliant and iconic on behalf of our community: an iconic vision of Naples Pier as the shining light we all remember, at the same time raising funds to support our First Responders in need — recognizing the role played by our Fire and Rescue Service at our planned presentation event.

WE NEED YOUR PARTICIPATION!

Embracing the heart of Naples’ most iconic feature, Naples Pier, Naples-based Emillions Art, has partnered with the extraordinary Photo-Mosaic artist, Robin Austin, to create an Iconographic masterpiece in a limited edition as a fundraising medium. This masterpiece will be created using thousands of photographs from our community to form the mosaic “tiles” for this piece.

We will select a picture of Naples Pier, pre-hurricane Ian, and recreate it using over 2,000 photos submitted by the community that represent their best and happiest memories in and around Naples.

ONLY 100 limited-edition 40 x 60 commemorative works will be created. Eighteen (18) works will be auctioned off with 100% of the proceeds being donated— 50% of the funds will go to the Collier County 100 Club and 50% going to the City of Naples for Pier restoration. Once completed, one artwork will be presented for display in City Hall; another will be presented to Naples Fire Rescue Station #1 in downtown Naples. Eighty (80) are available for purchase / pre-sale (see button below) with 20% of the proceeds being equally distributed among the Collier County 100 Club and the City of Naples.

WE NEED YOUR WONDERFUL PHOTOS! Free to participate, we are looking for your happiest, fondest and greatest memories of Naples. Submit your photo(s) here.

About the Artist

Robin Austin’s photographic mosaics reflect his love and devotion to storytelling. As the head creative for his own branding firm, Austin deftly told his clients’ stories. Now in his second career, Austin can expand on the stories of some of the twentieth century’s most prominent contributors to a shared cultural heritage: Mick Jagger, the Beatles, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, David Bowie, Nelson Mandela, and many others have been immortalized anew.

about the pier

The Naples Pier

Initially constructed in 1889 to service a newly built hotel, the 600-foot pier was used for loading and unloading passengers and freight as there were no roads at the time. The pier remained in use until the hurricane of 1910. The pier was rebuilt, now 100 feet longer, and stood firm until a cigarette fire in 1922.

Repaired again, the hurricane of 1926 severely damaged it, and repairs held firm, even through the 1935 Labor Day hurricane, until the hurricane of 1944. The repeated damage brought on new building standards for the pier to be rebuilt with.

In 1960 Hurricane Donna decimated the pier and the hotel, the hotel never reopened, but the pier came back – as the icon of Naples that it had always been. Through donations and tax support, the Naples Pier has and will forever remain the iconic heart of Naples.
